Tags: high heels, i hate you, tantrums
Last week was the worst in a long time. I had started getting sick the week before but I was sure it was just allergies. Then on Tuesday, my normal posting day, I worked which I normally don’t do. Before I had the chance to write, I had an allergic reaction to something. Still not sure what, but it was horrid. The week just went further down hill after that. I wrapped up the week with bronchitis.
Being a stay at home mom, most of the time, I have no “sick days.” Sadly, even though there are no sick days, there is a 5 year old in my house who doesn’t understand “mommy is sick.” The show must go on!
We are in full kindergarten mode….

As I was writing the above post I got the best blog fodder anyone could hope for. My first “I hate you!” Yes, my 5 year old has told me she hates me. What was it over you ask? High heels. Yes, she wants to wear her princess high heels to the mall. I kindly explained that high heels are not appropriate for 5 year old little girls to wear. I showed her that I was wearing flip flops. No go.
She has stomped off, told me that she hated me, and slammed her door. I’m sorry, I thought she was 5 not 13! When the teenage years hit I am so in for it. Good thing is that I don’t take it personally. I am actually not upset at all. In fact I am quite proud it took until she was 5 to get here.
Does anyone else feel like kids just grow up too fast these days? I said “I hate you” to my mom plenty in my teen years, but at 5 years old?! My five year old can roll her eyes with the best of them. I already said she slams her door. These are all things that I did growing up but I certainly don’t do them now. Where is she learning this????
Sigh, looks like a new phase has begun. Please enlighten me as to how you are all dealing with this – oh wise ones.
